Character posters for Star vs. The Forces of Evil.

I started watching Star vs. The Forces of Evil recently and got completely hooked. What first looked like a chaotic and light-hearted cartoon turned out to be much deeper. The two characters that left the strongest impression on me were Hekapoo and Eclipsa. Both are powerful, emotional, and misunderstood in their own way.

I wanted to show how much weight these characters carry. Hekapoo hides pain behind fire and sarcasm but ends up erased and forgotten. Eclipsa was judged for loving someone different and was pushed aside for choosing her own path.

Their stories are about distance, loneliness, and being seen as something you're not. I wanted those feelings to come through in the work.

Before doing anything visual, I had to understand how each character feels. Hekapoo needed something unstable and intense. Eclipsa needed something quiet, cold, and sad. I started collecting images that matched those moods and built the backgrounds around them. Every shadow, shape, and color was chosen to reflect what the character feels like inside.

The characters were taken from the show as cutouts. I picked frames that captured the right emotion and reworked them to fit the tone I had in mind. Each one was stylized and redrawn to look more painterly and expressive.

After that, I focused on integrating the characters into their scenes, making sure everything felt connected. Each layer was adjusted to match the overall mood and bring everything together as a whole.

To finish it off, I placed each piece into a clean mockup to let the emotion and atmosphere stand out. Nothing too complex. Just a way to keep the focus on the feeling each poster carries.
